"Deals, Danger, Destiny" Author John LaCasse on The Sunbury Press Books Show!
in Books
The term "Renaissance Man" is used far too often today, but if anyone is a contender to hold the title, John LaCasse could be one. A 25-year career as a Seattle yacht broker brought him in contact (and in business) with money people, magnates, politicians, actors, members of royalty, and a certain organized crime boss, but that was not all for LaCasse.
Years of good living, fine homes, sports cars, motorcycles, and partying (wait till you hear what happened to former Sec. of State George Schultz!) led LaCasse to a moment of clarity that made him ask himself, Why? This leads us to "Deals, Danger, Destiny," the memoir of John LaCasse's life, well, lived. (Thanks to Ray Wylie Hubbard)
LaCasse spares no detail in how his life led him to not only the highs of such a lifestyle but indeed its lows. Along the way, he speaks for his love of Paris, and how while hanging out at his favorite bookshop, he entered into discussions with a 13th-century theologian,...in real time.
A native of Missoula, Montana, LaCasse was kicked out of three universities, but returned as a middle-aged student of Transcendental Studies, earning an MBA and a Doctorate. He still lives in Seattle.

THE WRITERS LOUNGE PRESENTS: RUSSELL JOHNSON
in Writing
Join host Tom Riddell and co-host Teri Brown as they welcome author Russell Johnson to The Writers Lounge. Sit back and relax as Russell discusses what it's like to be a writer and he will also talk to us about his book: The Moonshine Messiah
Mary Beth Cain is a sheriff in the coal fields of West Virginia but her position as a law enforcement officer is complicated. She is also the daughter of a lady who runs a hillbilly crime syndicate and while the sheriff's ties to her family are not strong, they are still there, presenting a whole host of problems for Mary Beth and also, it's a huge headache for the federal government. Mary Beth's brother Sawyer is the cultish leader of an anti-government militia who is hell bent on causing destruction and mayhem and one of their first acts is blowing up a federal courthouse. As if Mary Beth doesn't have enough problems, she is also a target of a corruption investigation and it's headed up by an ex-boyfriend, U.S. attorney Patrick Connelly. Patrick comes in offering a deal to clear Mary Beth of the charges against her, but the deal swings on the demand that she has to arrest her brother Sawyer. The offer is refused but that's before the Feds swarm into town to take out Sawyer in a compound that he and his followers are holding down. Sheriff Cain is certainly no push over and she comes at you with an attitude and a determination to kick ass; and she makes no apologies.

Once Upon A Time with The Duke of stp dex bailey
in Poetry
Once Upon a Time Brick by brick our past has been laid. From legendary figures, to the everyday people like you and me, all have played a pivotal role in our journey. If the past could speak, what would it say? This is a show that explores just that. From the good the bad and the ugly, let’s try and make sense of it all, together. When the non fiction is more frightening than anyone could imagine, we look to art. So help me in telling the story that begins with “Once Upon a Time.”

in Books
Author Roberta S. Kuriloff stops by #ConversationsLIVE to discuss her book FRAMING A LIFE with host Cyrus Webb.
About Art
As Sondheim wrote, "Art isn't easy," but listening to people across the globe talk about it is! Our selection of shows that fall under the art umbrella is unparalleled, because we've got the world's most beloved authors, most talked-about actors and truly groundbreaking artists discussing their work, their influences and the creative process. On any given day, join in conversation with bestselling novelists, with museum curators on major fine art exhibits, with directors and writers whose films are the talk of Sundance or Cannes, with newsmakers whose latest works are changing the face of photography, mixed media or interior design. Spoken word is also voiced here, and other forms of poetry, as are journaling, crafts and more. Yes, BlogTalkRadio is bursting with self-expression; so if you've got a creative passion you'd like to share with the world, why not host your own show? We'll have you know, that part is easy.
